Monkey and the Penguin Blanket

A young dachshund looking out from under a fleece blanket

Monkey always got the penguins to himself.

All of the doxies got their own fleecy blankets to burrow in. For whatever reason, none of the pack except for Montgomery (who I affectionately called “Monkey”) ever liked the penguin blanket.

So, while Franzi, Rommel, and Hank would all tussle and growl over the same blanket, Montgomery always had this one to himself.

I used to think it was because he was shier than the others and didn’t like to wrestle for what the others hand. Now I think it’s because he was smarter than the rest and knew he wouldn’t have to share with anyone but the penguins.

I'm a certifiable dachshund fanatic and lover of anything that involves doxies. I have five — Rommel, Franzi, Montgomery, Hank, and Hercules — plus two German Shepherds, Noet and Sunna, who think they're dachshunds.
