Herc is In His Happy Place

I’m always suspicious when I don’t see or hear Hercules for more than a few minutes. Silence from that puppy usually means trouble.

So yesterday when I realized I hadn’t seen him in probably half an hour, I went to see where he was. He likes to go down to the fence and bark at the neighbor’s Labradors, but he wasn’t there.

Nor was he digging under the raised deck (another favorite of his).

I even went up to the coop to see if he was in there looking for duck eggs. He’s not supposed to do that, but I regularly find him there.

No Hercules.

I was starting to get concerned when I happened to pass through the bedroom and noticed a lump in the fleece blanket on the bed. So I went around to the other side of the bed, and saw a snout sticking out.

I went a little closer, and there he was, upside down, one paw twitching in the air, and a big smile on his sleeping doxie face.

Puppies…
