Event Preview: Doxie’s Individual Freestyle Excavation

Hercules is back in training for the Dachsolympics, specifically the highly competitive “Gopher Hunt” event (Greco-Roman Style). As you can see in the footage, he is focusing on his technique in the “Blind Dig,” a move hard-wired into the dachshund DNA but mastered by few.

His form here is absolutely textbook:

  1. Acoustic Calibration: Head tilted, nose at a 45-degree angle, ears deployed like parabolic radar dishes to detect subterranean movement.
  2. Rapid Soil Displacement: An explosive burst of digging (approx. 400 RPMs). Note the sheer volume of dirt flying backward.
  3. The “Pause & Pivot”: An abrupt freeze to re-verify gopher location.
  4. Course Adjustment: A slight shift in angle to ensure maximum yard destruction.

He repeats this cycle until the area is thoroughly trenched and officially certified as a “Human Ankle Hazard.”

While the judges note that he has a statistically zero percent chance of actually catching the gopher, points are awarded for intensity, focus, and the depth of the resulting craters.
