What they Mean When they Say Dachshunds are “Stubborn”

If you’re lucky enough to be a Dachshund companion, then you know what the experts mean when they talk about the breed as “stubborn”, “determined”, or “single-minded”.

Somehow Rommel scaled a 6 foot high duck enclosure to retrieve his ball

As an example of that determination, I present to you, Rommel, the most ball-obsessed wienerdog I’ve ever met.

Unlike the rest of the pack, Rommel doesn’t have much time for digging. Instead, he’d rather play Fetch the Ball.

He brings you a ball of his choosing (you have no say), and you throw the ball for Rommel to fetch. Then you throw it again. And again. And again…

It doesn’t matter whether your arm is about to fall off. You must throw the ball until Rommel — and only Rommel — decides that’s enough.

And don’t try anything cute like hiding the ball or throwing it somewhere that he can’t reach. It won’t work.

As proof, I threw his ball on top of the duck enclosure which is 6 feet high. A few minutes later, I found him on top of the duck enclosure recovering the ball.

I have no idea how he got up there. All I know is that he wasn’t done playing ball, and, as far as he was concerned, neither was I.
