Dachshunds in Every Direction

Dachshunds on leashes looking in every direction

Dachshunds looking everywhere but at other dachshunds

We took the pack to a dachshund meetup at the local dog park not too long ago. Having been a Doxie Mom for the better part of 20 years now, I’m not sure why I was surprised when all these wiener dogs — and there must have been 100 — showed little to no interest in the other wiener dogs.

As an example, here’s a photo of half a dozen dachshund owners with their pups trying to introduce them to the other pups. But if you note, none of them are looking at each other.

The dachshunds looking to the right are actually watching a group of golden retrievers running around practicing their retriever skills in the field next to them.

The doxie whose butt is pointed at the camera is watching a kid eat a snack (and probably thinking about going over there to have some).

And the black and tan in the middle barking did that the entire time. It was almost like he was saying “why are we here?” over and over.

Sigh… I do love my little sausage dogs, but they’re not much for group play. At least I got to have a few conversations with other doxie moms.
